I’m thrilled to share the first installment of my presidential series, inspired by my CCA Annual Meeting experience in Las Vegas. The energy in the halls, the conversations happening around every corner, and the collective excitement of our members remind me why this gathering is such an important touchpoint for our profession. It’s always a privilege to be part of this event—whether you're presenting, attending sessions, or reconnecting with colleagues.

Greetings from Las Vegas!

I had the chance to participate in several sessions on artificial intelligence. One, in particular, offered a hands-on exploration of prompting techniques. We experimented together, compared outputs, and saw firsthand how AI can enhance the efficiency of our work. It wasn’t just informative, it was invigorating. As our keynote speaker shared on Monday morning, “In the era of AI, this raises the value of trust and timeless human qualities.” That message resonated throughout the day. Even as technology accelerates, the importance of integrity, judgment, and human connection only grows stronger.

Over the years, I’ve made it a point during each Annual Meeting to attend at least one session outside my usual areas of expertise—whether that’s executive compensation, global benefits, or another unfamiliar niche. Stretching ourselves in this way broadens our perspective and strengthens our understanding of the diverse landscape within which actuaries operate. If you have the opportunity to join us in person, I encourage you to try the same: expand your horizons, try something new. You might be surprised by how much inspiration you find in new topics.

Looking ahead to future videos in this series, I plan to focus on two themes. First, I’ll be sharing curated resources—books, webinars, podcasts, and more—that can help you stay engaged, informed, and growing. Second, we’ll shine a spotlight on the power of learning from one another. By elevating member stories, we hope to spark insights, connection, and momentum across our community.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. I look forward to reconnecting with you in the months ahead.
