Proposed Bylaws Amendments
Voting is currently open on proposed changes to the CCA bylaws.
This initiative was undertaken to enhance clarity, align the bylaws with CCA’s current structure, practices and objectives, and ensure compliance with applicable Illinois laws and regulations. These changes will help ensure that the bylaws serve as a clear, accurate, and legally compliant framework for the organization’s continued growth and service to its members.
Revisions address several areas, including:
1. Discipline:
The proposed bylaws revisions reflect updates to CCA’s disciplinary process, focused mainly on removing references to the Joint Discipline Committee (JDC), which has been dissolved. These changes ensure that the bylaws accurately reflect how disciplinary issues are handled today, without compromising the integrity of the process or CCA’s commitment to maintaining high professional standards among its members.
2. Membership:
The updated bylaws clarify the broad definition of a "consultant" within the actuarial profession, reflecting CCA’s inclusive view of consulting across practice areas and employment types. Additionally, individuals who meet the proficiency criteria for membership and hold the CERA (Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst / Actuary) designation would become eligible for membership in the CCA. These changes broaden and clarify eligibility without impacting the membership status of current members.
3. Clarity and Compliance:
Several suggested revisions to the bylaws are focused on improving overall clarity and ensuring compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. These updates are intended to make the document more readable, transparent, and aligned with CCA’s current governance practices. In addition, the bylaws were reviewed in detail to ensure they meet or exceed the statutory and regulatory requirements for nonprofit organizations operating in the State of Illinois.
Please note that the vote will apply to the complete set of revisions, not to individual changes.
Voting will remain open until October 14, and you may cast or update your vote until that date.
