Navigating Professionalism Challenges: An Interactive Case Study Experience

This interactive session works through a series of complex professionalism scenarios using audience polling and role play by the panel. Participants will examine how the Code of Professional Conduct applies in practice, along with relevant Actuarial Standards of Practice (ASOPs), Actuarial Board for Counseling and Discipline (ABCD) guidance, and other professional standards as appropriate. For each scenario, the panel will set out the background, identify the professional and ethical considerations, and invite participants to weigh in on possible courses of action through polling. Panelists will then discuss the implications of the different responses, highlighting key professionalism principles and the reasoning behind each approach. Because professionalism issues often turn on nuance and judgment, the discussion will focus on understanding the range of reasonable outcomes rather than seeking a single "correct" answer.
