Michael Clark is a Managing Director and Consulting Actuary at River and Mercantile with 15 years of experience consulting on all types of corporate retirement plans from defined benefit pension plans to 401(k) plans. He specializes in liability management, investment strategies, strategic planning, and good governance and compliance. At River and Mercantile Mr. Clark heads up the firm’s operations in the west as well as business development for the US Solutions business in addition to his consultant and client management responsibilities. Michael has written numerous articles on issues surrounding retirement plans that have been published on River and Mercantile’s company website as well as Pensions & Investments, PLANSPONSOR.com, BenefitsPRO, Benefits Magazine, and Contingencies. He is also a frequent speaker at conferences addressing everything from pension plan de-risking to the impact of future mortality improvements on retirement programs. He is a Board Member of the Denver Chapter of the Western Pension & Benefits Council. He is a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries, a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and an Enrolled Actuary. Michael graduated magna cum laude from Brigham Young University with a B.S. in Statistics (actuarial science emphasis). Michael serves as the President for the CCA (2019-2020) following a term as President-Elect and has served on the Board of Directors since 2016. He has participated on the Membership Committee (2010-2017), Annual Meeting Committee (since 2014), Strategic Planning Committee (since 2016), and as Chair of the Communications Committee (2015-2018).
