Ms. Koren Holden is employed with the Colorado Public Employees’ Retirement Association (Colorado PERA) where she serves as a Senior Project Manager. In addition to special projects, she is responsible for review of annual funding and accounting/disclosure valuation reports and periodic work product from PERA’s external actuaries and acts as an actuarial resource to PERA leadership. Koren also is involved with the GASB Work Group and is a member of the team responsible for production of PERA’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). During 2014/2015 she assisted the PERA Board in the development of a revised Pension Funding Policy, following the guidelines presented in the CCA Public Plans Community’s "Actuarial Funding Policies and Practices for Public Pension Plans." Prior to joining PERA, Ms. Holden was with Buck Consultants, during which time she accumulated over 21 years of experience consulting to various public- and private-sector retirement plans. Koren’s actuarial work included pension valuations, GASB and FASB implementations and interpretations, experience analyses and other actuarial special studies. During the last ten years of her consulting career Koren focused exclusively on public-sector work and the issues that stem from funding pensions within a governmental and often, political arena. Koren has served on the CCA’s Annual Meeting Program Committee since 2013 and also volunteers on the Public Plans Community of the CCA where she has contributed to a number of papers and exposure draft responses regarding public plan topics. Ms. Holden is a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries (FCA), an Enrolled Actuary (EA), and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). She has a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, and a Minor in Computer Science from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
