Barbara Ruel is a Partner and Florida Wealth Business Leader of Mercer, based in the Tampa, Florida office. Barbara serves as actuary and senior advisor to clients in the energy, telecommunications, automobile and agricultural industries. Barbara is responsible for the delivery of all retirement services for qualified and non-qualified plans, including cash flow and expense planning, asset-liability matching, non-discrimination testing, compliance, administration and redesign. Barbara has over 25 years of experience in retirement consulting for sponsors of defined benefit, defined contribution and retiree medical and life plans. She joined Mercer in Toronto in 1989. In 1995, she moved to Florida and spent 12 years with another consulting firm. She most recently re-joined Mercer in 2008. Barbara is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary. She graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1989 with a Bachelor of Mathematics degree.
