Thomas P. Dawidowicz, 68, of West Granby and formerly of Rocky Hill and Hartford, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016, at his home.
Born in Hartford on April 28, 1948, son of the late Henry S. and Sophie A. (Swider) Dawidowicz, he was raised in Hartford and was a graduate of SS. Cyril & Methodius School and Bulkeley High School. After high school, Thomas continued his education at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain where he received his bachelor's degree.
Thomas started his career in insurance at The Aetna Insurance Company in Hartford in the actuarial department. After several years with The Aetna, he took a position at The Segal Company in Farmington where he worked throughout the world in the actuarial services department until his retirement as a vice president in 2014.
Thomas was a lifelong parishioner of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church in Hartford where he also served on the church's finance committee. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching sports, especially his favorite teams, the former Hartford Whalers and the New England Patriots.
He leaves a nephew, Geoff Oryell and his wife Marie of Cromwell; two great nieces, Faith and Nicole Oryell; and a brother-in-law, John Frank Oryell of Durham. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Henry S. Dawidowicz; and a sister, Patricia "Tricia" D. Oryell.
His family will receive friends on Friday, December 30, 6-8 p.m., at the Waszkelewicz South Green Memorial Home, 43 Wethersfield Ave., Hartford. Family and friends may gather on Saturday, December 31, 9:15 a.m., at the Waszkelewicz South Green Memorial Home, followed by Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Hartford. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
