2007 Annual Meeting Review and Photo
Gallery The 2007 Annual Meeting of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries broke attendance records with over 600 actuaries and guests attending. Held at the Westin La Cantera Resort in San Antonio, TX, attendees experienced top-notch speakers, quality sessions, a beautiful location, and a stimulating and thought-provoking sessions. Session presenters touched on a broad range of topics. The program provided the opportunity for attendees to earn over 20 hours of continuing education credit. Participants enjoyed the opportunity to network with colleagues, exchange ideas, and catch up with long-time friends. The Opening Session, “The Future of Actuarial Consulting Firms” featured a panel of leaders from large actuarial consulting firms discussing their views on the state of the profession and the future of actuarial consulting. David M. Walker, the Comptroller General of the United States was the guest luncheon speaker. Mr. Walker serves as head of the US Government Accountability Office (GAO), a legislative branch agency whose mission is to improve the performance and assure the accountability of the federal government for the benefit of the American people. A new feature this year was a session exchange between the UK’s Association of Consulting Actuaries (ACA) and the CCA. Presenters from the ACA offered sessions on topics including creative plan designs, plan termination or “wind-up;” and the dual role of the actuary. These topics have broad implications on the profession in the US and more importantly, worldwide. The sessions were well attended and received. The Annual Meeting of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries is the only meeting designed to address the day-to-day issues facing consulting actuaries. You will not want to miss the 2008 Annual Meeting, October 26 - October 29 at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa, in Bonita Springs, Florida!
