Most employers decided to collect the retiree drug subsidy for 2006; however, the Medicare Modernization Act provides many other alternatives to coordinate with the new prescription drug plan for Medicare retirees. Deciding whether or not to continue accepting the federal subsidy or utilize another strategy will be an important decision for employers to make in the next two years. This seminar focused on the design and actuarial aspects of the MMA impact on employer plans. This session was designed for individuals with moderate to advanced subject knowledge. Basic understanding of the alternatives is desirable.

The faculty for this seminar was from the various American Academy of Actuaries’ work groups focusing on these issues.
