David is Chief Actuary of Gabriel Roeder Smith and Company (GRS). David’s primary area of focus is public sector retirement systems and OPEB. Prior to joining GRS, David taught in the actuarial mathematics program at the University of Michigan and spent nine years consulting for private sector pension plans. David is a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries, an Enrolled Actuary, a Member of the American Society for Pension Professionals and Actuaries, and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He has a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and a B.A. from Kalamazoo College.
