Session from the 2011 CCA Annual Meeting

18 - The State of Mortality

10/24/2011 - 2:15 – 3:30 PM
Credits: EA Core 1.50 CPD 1.50

Mortality and life expectancy improved dramatically in the 20th century, but how long do these trends continue and at what rate? What is the current experience? How does the changing trend affect our financial projections? Our panel of experienced professionals reviews the trends and outlines the results of a new mortality study conducted by the Retirement Plans Experience Committee, which is developing possible replacements for the RP-2000 mortality tables and Projection Scale AA. Panelists discuss the practical implications of the implementation of these new tables.

Speakers:

1. Andrew J. Peterson - Society of Actuaries
2. Diane M. Storm - Actuarial Systems Corporation
3. Graham Alan Schmidt - Cheiron EFI
